Elon Musk’s X (formerly Twitter) was largely restored on Friday after a widespread outage disrupted services for tens of thousands of users across multiple countries, according to data from Downdetector.
X Outage Affects Users Worldwide
The outage peaked in the United States at around 10:14 a.m. ET, when over 74,000 users reported problems accessing the platform. By 12:34 p.m. ET, the number of reports had dropped sharply to around 4,000, indicating that services were mostly back online.
In the United Kingdom, outage reports declined significantly—from more than 14,000 to about 440. Similarly, reports in India fell to around 500, while issues reported by users in Canada also eased, according to Downdetector.

X did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters regarding the cause of the outage. As of now, the company has not issued an official explanation or technical update.

This marks the second major outage for X in the same week. Earlier, the platform experienced another disruption that peaked at more than 28,300 reports in the U.S. and over 8,000 reports in the UK, raising concerns among users about platform stability.
