Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a large EPC order worth ₹2,500–₹5,000 crore from Petronet LNG for the construction of LNG and hydrocarbon storage tanks at the Dahej Petrochemical Complex in Gujarat.
Project Scope and Key Highlights
As part of the project, L&T Wins Large Order for LNG Storage Tanks through its Hydrocarbon Onshore business, which will handle the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) scope.
Key components include:
- LNG/Ethane storage tank with a capacity of 170,000 cubic metres
- Propane storage tank with a capacity of 140,000 cubic metres
- Associated handling and dispatch facilities to support downstream petrochemical operations
Strategic Importance of the Dahej LNG Project
The Dahej facility will be part of India’s first petrochemical complex integrating cold energy utilisation from an LNG terminal. The storage infrastructure will support a Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) and Polypropylene (PP) plant, improving energy efficiency and operational sustainability.
Boost to Aatmanirbhar Bharat Initiative
This project strengthens domestic capabilities in large-scale LNG storage infrastructure and aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by boosting indigenous petrochemical manufacturing and reducing import dependence.
With this order, L&T wins a large order for LNG Storage Tanks, further reinforcing the company’s strong presence in India’s hydrocarbons and energy infrastructure sector
